WiFi Password Revealer, a tool to recover Wi-Fi passwords stored in our PC

When we connect our PC or phone to a Wi-Fi network, we just have to type in the password once, as the OS usually stores the password so the device automatically connects to the network without having to type the password over and over again. This is really convenient for users. However, it also helps us forget passwords because we do not need to remember them. Given that operating systems store passwords, it is really easy to recover them using tools like WiFi Password Revealer if you happen to forget them.

WiFi Password Revealer is a completely free app for Windows that will allow us to recover the information of the networks we have been connected to. The information is displayed on the PC so we can write down the networks’ passwords easily. Besides the passwords, this tool allows us to recover other sort of information like the network SSID, the HEX code, the encryption mode used and the connection type.

WiFi Password Revealer’s main features:

  • It can decrypt passwords encrypted with WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK.
  • It works with every Windows version up to Windows 10. Besides, it is also available in both 32 and 64 bits.
  • It can be used on Windows Server versions.

We must take into account that it is necessary to have administrative privileges on the system in order to decrypt passwords encrypted with WPA.

How does WiFi Password Revealer work?

To use this tool, the first thing to do is to download it through its main webpage for free. The app takes up less than 3 MB. Windows Defender has flagged the installer as a potentially unwanted program (PUP), but it is just a false positive. To prove it, we will give you a link of the report from VirusTotal of the app’s installer.

Once we install it on our PC, we just have to run it. After granting it administrator permission, we can see a window like the one below.

In this window we can see our PC’s different Wi-Fi network cards, and below we see a list of every network we have been connected to. For each network, we will see the SSID, the password, the password in HEX digits, the type of authentication and encryption.

This app does not do anything other than this, and it actually fulfills its main purpose (to recover passwords stored in our PC) as easy as possible.
